Five Easy Garden Jobs for a Mild Weekend
A mild weekend is ideal for small garden maintenance because many jobs are easier before growth becomes dense. Pick two or three tasks rather than trying to reset the entire space.
1. Clean the edges of paths
Pull weeds and sweep soil back from paving. Clear edges make even an otherwise untidy garden look cared for.
2. Check ties and supports
Loosen anything cutting into stems and replace brittle string. Wind damage often begins with a support that no longer fits.
3. Refresh one container
Remove dead material, top up compost and clean the rim. Doing pots one at a time is less disruptive than emptying the whole patio.
4. Make a small compost pile
Collect soft trimmings and dry leaves in one place. Even a compact bin or covered corner can handle useful garden waste.
5. Sit down and look
Spend ten minutes in the garden without working. The next useful job is often much clearer when you stop moving long enough to see the space as a whole.
